Do you remember when you first got saved? I do, and I can remember the zeal and desire for more of Jesus even at a young age. I can remember just wanting to learn more about Him, and even though I didn’t understand everything…. I knew that there was more to this life then just going through the motions. There was great purpose beyond our comprehension.
For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.
So then where is our mind set? And to what are we feeding the most —-our flesh man or spirit man?? We cannot produce good spiritual fruits if we do not pray and keep our hearts meditating upon scripture. Eventually our love for God and hunger for more of God will fade. Our love for others and serving others for the sake and call of Christ will begin to be more of a burden then a love and total surrender to and for Him. We do need to bare in mind that we serve a good Father and it’s not all about what we do but who we are that He love us so deeply. We are His children!!! He loves us for that simplistic reason, but desires that we love and obey Him in return.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control; against such there is no law.
Are these fruits evident any longer in our heart and walk with God in our daily lives? Think about it. If our hearts don’t remain hidden in the word of God and in prayer then eventually these fruits will not be obvious to anyone!!! Actually they will be right the opposite of fruitful. Lets think about a big juicy grape, and how when you set it outside in the scorching sun it dries up like a raisin. Well….it is the same way with the heat of life….when the fiery trials and circumstances hit the fan sometimes its easy to be overwhelmed and want to throw in the towel….its easy to loose hope and stop reading the word and praying. Its easy to become bitter, and to only think about yourself….its simple to spiritually dry up. What used to be a passionate juicy fruit full of God’s love for others, His Spirit, and power turns into bitter, unforgiving, weak, bad fruit. We cannot remain in this, and that is why we must open our heart to know the hope of His calling!! We must ask Him to search our hearts and forgive us where we fall short.
James 3:17 tells us that the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, and without hypocrisy. Does our Spirit line up with God’s word in this? Satan wants to lie to us and discourage our hearts because he knows that power comes through prayer. He knows that love conquers all so if he can keep us on the bitter, ungracious, and non understanding side, then he has nothing to worry about.
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
And these verses explain exactly why Satan is scared of you and I and who we can be through Jesus Christ!!! Compassionate hearts full of the glory of God and His spiritual fruits cannot be stopped. SO when is the last time that your heart was moved with compassion for the lost? When is the last time that you saw other with the Fathers eye that are full of love? When is the last time that the spiritual fruit was bursting at the seems with passion and love for Jesus and others? When is the last time that our hearts yearned on the inside of us for more of Him? It’s time to become a Passion Fruit like we were when we first committed our hearts and lives to Christ Jesus!!!
Let me challenge you with this verse:
Now Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
As Children of God sold out to Him we are not our own, so its no longer all about us. Think Bigger Picture!! We can not reach this world being a dried up prune or raisin only thinking of me, myself, and I. No, we have to be passionate about the God we serve and what Hes called us to do!!!
Dear Heavenly Father,
Give us a heart like Yours that is compassionate for the lost!! Open our hearts to know the hope of Your calling!! Help us to walk in Your Fruit of the Spirit and shine as bring as the sun for Your glory alone!! It is not always easy, but is well worth it. May we produce good fruit full of passion for more and more of You. In Jesus name, amen!!!
