The Power of Persistent Prayer

The last few weeks, my hubby and I have been in deep prayer for our son and nephew who have dealt with Autism and its effects that has gripped them in fear and anxiety. We have been praying for total and complete miraculous healing, and we know that God has definitely been in the works of helping them to advance in their learning and there has been a gradual healing ….but…….. As a parent, and even as a aunt it is heart breaking to see. In those moments where there is a meltdown, PRAYER, is the BEST option YES…..but setting back and seeing the tow it takes on your child and the pain that you know they have to be in just makes you want to melt down in tears yourself but you have to remain strong for your childs sake. You come to the realization that there is absolutely nothing that I can do, But God….He can intervene!!! This week the parable of the persistent neighbor has been on my heart.

Luke 11:5-8 says, And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

When I read this I think about how persistent we need to be in our prayer lives, and when we enter into desperation mode realizing that God is God and we are not……we run to Him over and over and over until finally, in His timing, we have an answer!!! The neighbor in this parable was obviously tired as this dude was knocking at his door in the middle of the night….so he probably had the mentality, “Lets get him some bread so that I can lay back down and we don’t wake the kids and He will STOP the knocking”. The good thing is that we serve a God who does not sleep (Psalms 121:4), but He desires that we be persistent in our prayers even if it takes us becoming so desperate that were up much later then we usually stay up….even if it means that we set a longer prayer time then normal….even if it means that we have to give up or set aside some things that normally take the place of time with Him, even if means the oh no word that noone ever likes to take part in ~ FASTING!!!

Luke 11:9-10 tells us “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Jesus is the answer, He holds all the answers, so ASK and you shall RECEIVE, SEEK and you shall FIND, KNOCK and the door shall be OPENED!!!!

Some will get offended that we are praying for such a miraculous healing for this….I am sure of it!! The thing is God does not desire that His children be in pain or sick or anxious and the list goes on. As a matter of fact if you read past this parable in Luke You will find scripture to back this up!!!

If a son asks for [a]bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

So God desires to give good gifts, one main one being the Holy Spirit who leads and guides us into all truth, prays through us the perfect will of the Father when we have no clue what to pray, who comforts us in difficult times and seasons……

But He also took stripes on His back so that we as His children could live and walk in healing….Spiritually, Physically, and Emotionally. You guys….He went through some MAJOR PAIN for our healing so don’t think for one second that His heart is not for you and I to be and live healed in His name!!!

We live in a sinful wicked corrupt earth and that is why sickness even exist here and even why there is Spiritual Warfare at times to receive the healing and sometimes were not even made whole until Heaven and I can’t say that I understand the whys in that, but we must persistently fight for what is rightfully ours as Children of God and not give up despite the circumstances and what we see because God is FAITHFUL to perform His word!!!

Spiritual Warfare just means that Satan knows that the answer is on its way. He tries to use discouragement and increased chaos to try to make you give up, but DON’T!!! Press through to the breakthrough!!!

I want to leave you with this song called PEACE!!! Amanda Cook who is a part of Bethel Sings it, and anyone who has ever battled in their mind in any form or capactiy needs to listen to this and let the presence of God minister, encourage, and quiet you with His love!!! 1. I have been praying for all our boys daily, and I have seen some great improvements with Collier. I’ve been praying for God to work through all the therapists and teachers to help him get him caught up, and it’s unbelievable how he much he has improved in his vocabulary and calmness in just the three days that he has been at his new school. This is after a long period of him seeming to make no progress or very little, so it is important to keep the faith! Also, he is now finally getting in to see a specialist sometime in the next few months. God is working wonders!
